NO U13 Boys Hockey

This year I am playing Goalie for the first time for North Otago Under 13 Boys.  I have never played Goalie in my 3 years playing Hockey for North Otago but we did not have a goalie this year so I said to my coach that I would like to give it a go.  It is much harder than it looks, but no too scary when the ball is hit at me.  I find it easier when it is just the opposition in front of you otherwise there is players everywhere and I can not get a clear view of the ball.  I have been having training with Logan Jopson who has represented South Island as a goalie and his training and tip have been very valuable.  The goalie gear is very heavy and takes a long time to put on.  I have to be at games 15 minutes before the other boys so Mum can suit me up.
Last weekend we went to Dunedin and played Invercargill which we won 1-0 and also Central Otago which we won 1-0.   This Saturday we are off to Cromwell where we will play Eastern Southland and Central Otago.  Our main tournament is the South Island Festival of Hockey which is held in Oamaru this year from 3-5th October, so come along and support North Otago.

Last Friday I was in the Oamaru Mail when we were playing the Under 13 girls for the new clubrooms opening.  We won 1-0.
